...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Connecticut River At Hartford affecting Hartford and Middlesex
Connecticut River At Middle Haddam affecting Middlesex County
The combination of recent rainfall and snow melt across the upper
reaches of the Connecticut River basin has caused the lower
Connecticut River to go into flood.
The Flood Warning continues for
The Connecticut River At Hartford.
* until further notice...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 11:30 AM Friday the stage was 18.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 19.9 feet by late
Monday morning. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 20.0 feet...Flooding is expected along the river in
portions of Wethersfield, Glastonbury, Rocky Hill and Cromwell. The
high waters and swift flows will disrupt some cross river ferry
services. Upstream of Hartford, flooding will continue to affect
portions of Windsor. Immediate river roads may become impassable in
all of these communities. Further downstream flooding will continue
to overspread sections of Portland, Middletown as well as Chester.

Safety Message...A Flood Statement providing the latest information
in this flood event will be issued within the next 8 hours, or
earlier if needed.
Safety Message...Do not allow children to play near swollen rivers,
streams or culverts. Swiftly moving water can pose an imminent threat
to life.

The Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of northern Connecticut and Massachusetts, including
the following areas, in northern Connecticut, Hartford,
Tolland, and Windham. In Massachusetts, Franklin, Hampden,
Hampshire, and Worcester.
* From 2 AM EDT Saturday through Saturday evening
* Widespread showers with locally heavy rainfall is expected to
develop late tonight, continuing through Saturday evening.
* Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts
possible. This may result in urban and poor drainage flooding.
* In addition, the soaking rainfall will exacerbate or renew
mainstem river flooding along the Connecticut River. It may
also contribute to sharp rises for a few smaller streams within
the watch area.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
